In most shorthanded games I play (3-6 or 5-10 on the net, sometimes 10-20 or 15-30 live), I am the player at the table least likely to defend my blinds. And generally I am a winning player in these situations. Is there a connection between the two, or am I giving up value by, say, folding 9To or K5s in the BB to a decent preflop raiser and a loose cold caller in six handed action? How do other players go about planning their blind defense?

There was an excellent post here a year or two ago. However, my link to it is no longer valid because of the changes to the site. It went by the title "Raising in SB / Defending BB". But, essentially, it seemed like it could be reduced to the calling hands in the short-handed section of HPFAP-21. After all, a calling hand is a raising hand in this situation as well.

I can honestly say understanding the defense of the blinds was a major betterment to my game.
