I've heard of dogs getting stung by a few (4-5) porcupine quills, and they usually learn their lesson... but this is just crazy. Looks like a pit bull though, so that might explain it.

So what is the prognosis for this dog?

Damn, I wonder what happened to the porcupine - I'm guessing that's not all the dog's blood on his mouth..

Ouch, this hurts to look at.

BUT! I does bring up an age old question...

Would you rather have a bunch of these stuck in your face, or one in your pooper?

Holy smokes that's nuts. You are your crazy animal pictures! Porcupine must be almost naked now or something.

It's a bull terrier, like Spud McKenzie. While they are usually nice now, they were originally bred for fighting, or ratting, general animal torture for human amusement type stuff. Some of their aggression still shows, and this dog was obviously pretty game to not stop after the initial quilling.

Also I believe it was Princess Anne who keeps a bunch of bull terriers and everyonce in a while they take out one of the Queen's corgies.

Update:

DOG: After antibiotics and pain meds, she is doing OK although an occaisional piece still works its way out.

Porcupine (quote from dog owner):
"The porcupine actually came up near the house and so they are testing it for rabies, It didn't walk away from this one I'm afraid. They are concerned as it is peculiar for a procupine that is mature as this one was to go wandering up near a house with three dogs. The two others had sense not to get involved and were not quilled. Inca on the other hand, I guess took it personally. "

meh, I know snopes said this is true, but I dont care, im calling bullshit.

No dog with that [censored] all over his face is just passively standing around, getting pictures taken of it and [censored]. That dog would be going ape [censored] clawing at its face and stuff.

My dog got into a cactus and her face was covered in thorns and I had to physically pin her down until they could all be pulled out, because she kept clawing at them and licking her face and crap.

I don't really have an opinion either way (except that this picture gives me the creeps) but couldn't it have been taken in the vet's office while they're waiting for the doggie downer to completely kick in?

I say this because I once had to take some external parasites off our dog, and we gave it a pill which pretty much had her standing and conscious while we were working on her. Goddammit, I'm getting all itchy just thinking about it...

These are the pictures the vet sent before the long (and expensive) procedure to remove the quills. She had thousands of quills, and her tongue was so covered, she could not close her mouth.
