What are the odds?

I found at another site that flopped quads are 407/1 and a flopped FH is 136/1...but I don't know how to do the math from there.

Thanks in advance.

Well you both have to have pocket pairs...so we'll assume that one holds 9-9 and one holds J-J.

Flop needs to come J-J-9 or 9-9-J. There are 2 ways each of these can happen. So 4/C(48,3) = 4/17296 = .023% or 4323 to 1.

couldn't only one player be holding a pocket pair. one player holding A8 and the other holding KK and the flop comes AAA.

Well, the numbers he quoted were for pocket pairs (i.e. using both cards)...so I ran with that.

based on experience when I flop full houses, it's about 50-50. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
