BruceZ's post on Dunks inspired this poll. Take your pick on which coffee you like best.

I'd like to do a write-in vote for Tim Hortons.

Starbucks is strong and has decent flavor. DD is the greatest substance known to man.

I don't get the DD thing. it tastes like normal, deli style watery coffee to me. I'll take starbucks any day.

Starbucks is easier to find when you're out of town and all you've had for 2 days is watery hotel coffee

Starbucks. Drug of choice. Starbucks Trucks would do as well as ice cream trucks in some yuppified areas.

I don't buy coffee for $3 a pop.

I buy coffee for $9 a pound and Baileys for $20 a bottle.

My coffee > Starbucks by a very big margin.

I like coffee from QuickChek (NJ). Brewed fresh every 20 minutes or less and only costs me $1.05. Never had it at DD, but I do like caramel frappuccinos from Starbucks.

I agree with this, but I can't really drive home during lunch at work. Three's a Starbucks 1 mile away. What are you drinking?

Dunkin Donuts drip coffee is better than Starbucks drip coffee.

Many gas stations and most small coffe shops have vastly superior coffee to either place. Wawa and Cumberland Farms are examples of coffee that is vastly superior to DD and SB and much cheaper.

Dunkin donuts iced coffee is better than their hot coffee, and is a great accompaniment to several glazed donuts.

I'm not a big fan of espresso drinks, so I don't have much use for Starbucks.

I don't find WaWa coffee all that great. I was really disappointed with their new Kenya coffee. It's absolutely terrible. When I do get a regular coffee at Starbucks, it's gotta be on the darker roasts. I don't think DD or Wawa are bad, I just prefer Starbucks.

so for someone looking to get a decent cup of regular coffee at starbucks (note that 'decent' is a pretty low standard which going in there and asking for regular coffee doesn't meet), what should they order?

I prefer Sumatra or Kenya. Darker. I haven't tried the lighter stuff. If you're not used to Starbucks, try the lighter variety.

I generally prefer stronger coffee, but not at the expense of horrible flavor. While Starbucks coffee is definitely more intense than the other coffees mentioned, I think most of that intensity is bitterness instead of rich coffee deliciousness.

Dunkin Donuts = decent coffee
Starbucks = burnt, bitter coffee
Wawa = burnt, bitter rubber

I dunno, I like having fresh coffee that doesn't taste like they are intentionally trying to make it bitter.

07-28-2005, 01:57 PM
Starbucks can't be beat for their cold drinks. Have you tried the green tea lemonade? I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I like the occaisonal white mocha from starbucks and their espresso is incredible.
