I know what they all stand for, but what's the difference? Do they differ by state?

DUI = Driving Under the Influence

OUI = Operating Under the Influence

DWI = Driving While Intoxicated

all the same thing, just different names for different states.

I've heard that in some states DWI is a worse offense than DUI, but I can't verify that.

That's how it is in Maryland - I thought it was that way everywhere.

In NY

DWI - Is driving while intoxicated on alcohol.
DUI - Is driving under the influence of any other drug.

DUI is a harsher penalty.
