A couple years ago my dad canceled his garbage service. Somebody must have screwed up and didn't tell the actual garbage men that he was no longer paying for the service, because they continued to pick up his garbage free of charge.

So a couple days ago one of the garbage people comes up to my dad and says, 'Hey, I've checked the list a bunch of times and I can't seem to find your name...'

My dad says, 'Ya know, you guys have been stealing my garbage for a couple years now. I didn't notify your office because I didn't want to get you in trouble.'

They both have a good laugh.

So the question is: Is this stealing?

Your dad's response is amazing. Very well played.

Stealing? No.
It sounds like it should be one of those jokes told at a church function or something.

We did the same thing with cable TV before. We tried to cancel it like three times. Theyu quit billing us but never turned it off, despite our reminding them so we just left it.
