This was a situation I was in last night. I'm the chipleader of the Empire 10k guaranteed $25 rebuy tourney. I have been very aggressive with 12 players left and this is shortly into the final table. The CO in this hand has been playing with me for about 2 hours and has been moderately tight, especially around the final table bubble. The reason I decided to resteal here is because I would make 8k and freeroll the all in if he folded. Also I thought he would think 2 things:
1. He would get to see my hand to see if I was bluffing as the SB was already all in.
2. He wouldn't want to risk going out before the all in person who is very short stacked, which would result in the most significant jump in pay yet in the tourney.

So was this a well thought out play or is this a -EV move. I think the villain will fold 99 or lower (maybe TT) and if he calls with AK or AQ i'm still 1/3 to win it.

Converter is messed up so I'll just post it raw.

Maybe, but with your dominating chip position, an extra 8K is only 2 BB at this level. Is it worth risking a third of your stack if he calls? A raise from the CO who as you said.. is playing tight, into the chip leader could indicate a good/very good holding. You could also call this and pull a stop and go if you get a nice flop/draw....

I would advise letting the CO pick off the SB... and be done with it...

I don't like it. I want to try and resteal when I think there's a good possibility that the raiser has little or nothing. This is a tight player raising in a situation where he knows one player (SB) is pretty much compelled to call with anything, so he's got something.

You want to resteal against players who are aggressively attacking the blinds. First they are likely to lay it down, and second, they (and possibly others) may lay off your blinds.

Also, since the SB is all-in (with pretty much a random hand) the raiser knows that if they both go out, he makes the next spot anyway. I'm surprised if anyone is laying down TT here, or 99 for that matter.
