This is one of those hands that can get us into trouble.

This is from a non-party site. Starting stacks are t1000. We're down to four. Normal payout.

Blinds (100/200)

UTG ~ t1765
Button ~ t575
Hero ~ t2060
BB ~ t5600

Folded to Hero with AKo. What's your line here?

I'm pushing it if BB is loose. I'd 2.5xBB if BB is tight.

My instinct says push.

Isn't this something that SNGPT can handle?

So, it seems like an easy push, unless you are considering another option (completing, or raising smaller than all your chips.)

Both other options are very player dependant.

I can't see 2.5xBB saying anything but please rob me.

Depends on what I agree with you on. I've posted plenty of stuff in the past 4-5 months that I'm sure I'd disagree with if I read it now.

morgan you arent begging for the BB to look you up. If they have something like QJo Im pretty sure being called is -EV for you and if they have 22 it's huge -EV. You don't want action with AKo against the bigstack when there are two shortstacks (with one of them being tiny). You are more than happy to win the blinds.

btw this is a very important concept. It's a disaster if you are called by the BB here.

SammyKid11

Push. Don't play "scared" poker -- yeah the shortstack is short, but he could easily double up. This is a great hand that's ahead of almost everything. If you're not pushing the SB with AK, you're playing with too much fear.

curtains - thank you for pointing this out - i just ran it through icm (b/c i'm stubborn) and you are right, even for a hand like QJ folding this PF is better than getting this called.

thanks - my first ICM experience - a positive eye opener. ( i hope i did this right)

for reference:

1) you fold
UTG 1765
Button 575
Hero 2060
BB 5900
26.37% of prize pool

2) you push and lose
UTG 1765
Button 575
Hero 0
BB 8960
0% of prize pool

3) you push and don’t get called
UTG 1765
Button 575
Hero 2360
BB 5600
27.82% of prize pool

4) you push and get called and win
UTG 1765
Button 575
Hero 4420
BB 3540
35.42% of prize pool

5) you push get called and split
UTG 1765
Button 575
Hero 2210
BB 5750
27.12% of prize pool

If BB is calling with something like QJo AKo is

---------equity (%)-----win (%)---tie (%)
Hand 1: 64.2962 % 64.10% 00.19% { AcKd }

Hand 2: 35.7038 % 35.51% 00.19% { QhJs }

Win: .641
Lose: .3551
Tie: .0019

.3542*.641 + 0*.3551 + 27.12*.0019 = .227 + 0 + .0005

22.75% of prize pool

You push. Your on the buddle with 10 BBs, its a great time to play aggressive. If they fold they fold, but if they call u have a great chance to double up. You could lose but if u dont double up before u lose a few more blinds an the blinds go up then u will have to make a move anyways with weaker cards.

This certainly is not what you want....on the bubble with anyone moderately short you almost never want to be 'looked up.'

However, the good news is he won't look you up too often and with your hand you will be ahead of just about anything he'll look you up anyway with which makes it a very, very, very, very, very easy push.

Yes...I see now it looks like you set yourself straight....much better than just taking curtains word for anything, /images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Mainly b/c you won't be able to call him up every time you're on the bubble in a STT.

I posted this hand because I was called with TT. And the thought went through my mind, as I was sitting on the sidelines, "did I need to be in this pot?" At first glance, I thought "push" just like all the noob post responses I got in this thread.

It's interesting to note, if shorty had just one chip, I'd bet the majority response would be complete or fold. Anyway, in retrospect, this looks like a better hand/opportunity to try and trap with rather than just push monkey it.

Flame away....

DO NOT TRAP WITH AK HERE
You need to see the whole board, and frankly, you don't even want to have to go to a showdown anyway. If you don't take my advice, you'll start trapping in retarded spots and eventually you'll pull something like this (I'm ashamed to even post this and no, I don't want commentary as I already knnow its FPS gone wild)

It's a disease... trust me. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just curious Scuba...if you don't push your options are

Complete and he raises
-or-
Raise and he comes over the top thinking you are stealing
-or -
Raise, he calls then comes over the top with one or zero overcards on the flop

What do you do when he raises?

Scuba this was a clear allin, don't be results oriented.
