I'm thinking... c/r and cap the turn if possible, lead the river and call a raise. (I'm torn between 3-betting and just calling a river raise. Not sure if it's a good idea if the turn is capped. Otherwise, maybe).

I guess my line of "thinking" at the time was that button was bluff raising the flop. Which is what led me to check and call the turn, in hopes of extracting more on the river.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Fastplay is the new slowplay. MHIG, just so we're not worried that this is a bad beat post.

I think you're still ahead most of the time even after his flop raise so I'd 3-bet the flop and lead the turn.

I like your original line of thinking, but I'm not sure why putting him on a flop bluff made you just call the turn. Go after him then, no messing about.
