I have recently become fascinated with hand reading. I enjoyed reading the ZeeJustin.com tourney writeup. Anybody know of any good posts like this here on 2+2?

Thanks in advance,

Indy

It's not single table but MLG has a thread in the MTT forum where it's reasonably obvious what Kristy Gazes has but still interesting to those inexperienced with hand reading.

Here's a good article from the 2+2 magazine links:

Also, do a search for William, CrisBrown and AleoMagus who posted a few hand reading threads last year.

Another good (old) one by Jason Strasser can be found here (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=913087&page=&view=&sb=5&o =&vc=1)

What hand would a pro want to build a middle pair with? Obviously a middle pair to try to build a pot when she sets up. Otherwise miniraising preflop is silly, and pros know that.

The way Kristy played that flop is not indicative of a set. Thus Kristy has exactly 66 or 88.

If you follow the thread they explain that reasoning in more detail.

Why on earth would you want to build a pot preflop with either of those two hands????????

I would want to build a pot with something like KQs or JTs to tie people into the pot if I get a str8 or flush...so maybe JTs or QTs or KQs?? This could also be considered a value bet.

Yes, but what happens if the flop comes high, can you get away from AJ post flop against a solid player?

So maybe not AJs. But I still think that JTs or QTs or KJs is viable. Don't you?

I still don't want to tie myself to the pot when I flop TPGK. These hands have showdown value but I don't want to invest a lot of chips with them. Whereas 66 or 88 I don't care about getting to showdown (most of the time) unless I hit my set.

Hey, thanks for that Strassa post. That guy is brilliant IMO. I think his greatness lies in his confidence in his own reads. I have lots of reads like the one in this post where I am telling myself that this guy is bluffing me. Still I cannot bring myself to make these types of calls out of fear.

The STT forum is probably the worst place to talk about hand reading. Everyone is too concerned about ICM, playing only AK, AA, KK, QQ with deepstacks and limping for set value to be putting people on hands. I suggest MTTs or Mid/High stakes NL for actual hand analysis.

Actually,

I do agree that hand reading is of less interest here is sort of a dividing line in the science of SNGs versus cash and MTT.

I never play that high, but I regularly read hand reading posts in Mid&High-Stakes No-Limit. You can pick out which posts are worthwhile and they are very informative. Typically applicable where stacks are deeper, but nonetheless I second this good advice!
