I assume his short stack puts him on pushing any two. Do you feel comfortable calling here?

Simple pot odds say it's a call, let alone with an Ax type hand

Thanks.

Unlike many at the 11's, I don't like Ax most of the time. I did call this:

HERO calls [277].
** Dealing Flop ** [ Th, 7s, 5s ]
** Dealing Turn ** [ 9d ]
** Dealing River ** [ 6c ]
HERO shows [ Ah, 8d ] a straight, six to ten.
VILLAIN shows [ Kc, Ks ] a pair of kings.
HERO wins 804 chips from the main pot with a straight, six to ten.
VILLAIN finished in fifth place.
dirty
VILLAIN has left the table

The questions arose afterwards since I was up against a monster.

But look at the odds. 377 + 50 + 100 = 527 in the pot, and only 277 to call. This is really a no brainer. Of course he'll have a monster occasionally, but most times he will not.

this is a super easy call.

Even if he flips over KK, this is only marginally -EV (about expected loss of 50 chips). And his range is MUCH wider than KK.

The better question here is, "what won't you call with?"

Im calling with a lot. Not only because of the pot odds, but also because it is a relatively cheap way to advertise that you won't let go of your bb and that you'll call an all-in with mediocre hands. This will pay off later as well even if you lose...IOW the call will pay for itself if say an sb folds instead of pushing at the 400 blinds down the road because of this earlier call you made.

easy call ... if the short stack whines tell him next time to have more chips when he goes all in so he doesnt give you the pot odds to call /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
