View Full Version : Round 2 of the Weekend Poker Triad...

11-11-2001, 01:53 AM
Round two of the Weekend Triad poker festival at Harrah's Casino in East Chicago, IN. We should call it the clash of the duces. The SPM entered the feeder 10-20 Hold'em game with high hopes. He remained in the Valley of Patience and for the first hour and a half he was up an amount not worth mentioning. Then the game got short handed during the half hour before the next group of gamblers would be let on the boat. The boat has a 30 minute loading opportunity every two hours. Miss that window of opportunity and you wait dockside wishing you had left home sooner.

The short hand game gave the SPM a rare opportunity to race ahead of the small group to become the chip leader. Up three and a half stacks. Then the new players arrived and the game became full again. The SPM was dealt two beautiful rockets and he raised. The flop came junk and it was heads up with the most aggressive player in the game. Name unknown, will call him Mr Pushing Nothing, because all day he kept pushing the same nothing and getting no where fast. The turn came the third flush card an the two combatants checked. The river brought a ace and the fourth flush card. Again check, check the SPM shows a set of aces and Mr Pushing Nothing has the nut flush card, pocket duces with the right duce. Cruses foiled again.

Enter another raise and again the SPM finds himself heads up with another keeper of pocket duces who calls the two bets. The SPM gets post flop aggressive syndorme. By the river the SPM must show his best no pair and loses to another duck keeper. By the time the SPM makes it to the main game it takes a total of 7 and ½ hours to get up four stacks. Then the game changed and the young gladiators of the casino arrived. The SPM packs it in and thinks to himself as he's leaving for the hour drive home. Could have left after two hours and the results would have be pretty much the same. Well who needs an hourly rate anyway. Score 2 wins and one to go...now Sunday at Hollywood where the games are very loose and danger lurks around every turn.

SPM,...looking for a Weekend hat trick...
