3/6 Somewhere, full.

I open in MP with red AK. BB 3-bets, (a Mega-Lag whos stacking off since he only has 6 BBs left), I cap.

Flop is 725 two clubs. We cap.

Turn is 4 of clubs. He bets, 3-bets and I call.

River is the Q of clubs. He puts in his last 6 dollars.

When I say Mega-Lag I really mean it.

Too much. Just get to showdown with Ace high, give action with a pair. If the flop is multiway and you can get HU, then consider spraying.

AK is worth a call down post flop against a mega-lag. I think you put in too many bets post flop.

Obviously you need to call the river or your action on the previous streets makes zero sense. But I'd have to be pretty positive he's playing the maniac here to go 4-bets on the flop and your turn raise/call indicates you weren't positive. I'd prefer just calling down and going to war if I improve. But it's your variance. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

So you'd just call/call/call postflop? Would you consider calling this river? Keep in mind villain is stacking off.

6BB is not stacking off. 6BB is a lot.

I'd call, call call with AK UI. As you played it, you have to call the river, but I wouldn't like it.

I kinda thought of it as a all-in bet by villain. And I called his all-in with AKo.

Hahaha my reasoning sounds faulty.

seems like spew to me. get to a SD cheaply unless you hit a pair.

But I'm thinking AKo is ahead of sooooooo many hands villain has here.

toss,

Did you seriously consider folding the river after putting in 5 BB's on the flop/turn? I don't get it.

Well not really. I thought some of the SSers might think its a fold. (Foolish?) Even if I tried to fold my right arm would reject and smash down on the call button.

Good. /images/graemlins/grin.gif I will kick anyone where it hurts most if they say fold AK to a borderline maniac/tilting LAG on the river HU in this pot. Not even close.

well, i do suggest seeing a sd...but idiots can have pairs too... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

i think u win more against a random hand if you play it safe with a strong ace.

HU against a true maniac who's hand is really random, I cap the flop every time with AK and cap the turn as well on a lot of boards such as paired boards that aren't totally coordinated. But true maniacs are very rare and against this opponent obviously the hand isn't really random.

C'est magnifique mais ce n'est pas le poker

So which one of you is the mega-lag? jk. I think I would just call down after the flop. All he needs is some crap like 66 to have you beat here.

Nah he had KQ no flush. He then proceeded to take more of my chips when he hit a two outer on the river. Then my chips very distributed to the rest of the TAGs at the table. Das poker baby.

Last time I tried this against a similar maniac (stats of 100/93/5.1 over 90 hands - seriously) who was down to his last few bets, the board came down TT5, and my unimproved AKs ended up staring at his T5 flopped full house.

I personally think that ultimately it's a +EV play, but it's definitely a HUGE variance play.

And I'd stop at one bet on the river.

sounds like a spew starting with the turn. I just call down starting from there.
