In short, does anyone know anything about the 5th generation iPod and when it will come out?

I want to buy one but I don't want to buy a 4th generation and then have a newer one come out a week later. I have tried to google the answer and found that the 5th generation was supposed to be released July 7th, but apparently that didn't happen.

I've made up my mind that an iPod is what I want. So please refrain from trying to persuade me to buy another type of mp3 player. Thanks.

Quit being a cosmetic little girl. My 3rd Gen still works great.

If a 5th gen were a month away I'd get a 4th gen with no problem. But with it potentially being any time, why get an older version? That's just stupid.

Because there will be very little difference other than saying "I have a 5th generation iPod."

But that's what having an iPod is really all about.

Oh yea, my bad. I forgot you were supposed to hang it on the outside of your beltloop or from your neck.

No. I had a karma for a day and then I said [censored] it and got an ipod.

There is no substitute for the UI and sleek look and feel or an ipod. It's like comparing the comcast DVR to TiVO. Yeah, they both do the same thing...but they're far from actually being the same thing.

I've had many such devices. I've left some by the wayside. You will not be disappointed with your iPod purchase. One of the best personal electronics products ever produced.

Until it breaks, or the battery dies, and then you are screwed. Buy it at Costco or Sam's Club for the lifetime return policy.

So does anyone have any info on the 5th gen?

Or even any rumors on it?

rumors on bigger iPod Shuffles here (http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000467048768/)

as for a 5th gen iPod, i think you are dreaming. I think the newest ones have a color screen standard, and come in 20 or 40GB.

I may be dreaming.

Thanks for the link because I did find some more information at the site. I found this article (http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000943034314/) about new battery life posted in March. Does anyone know if the new battery has been included?

Try www.macrumors.com. (http://www.macrumors.com.) I don't read this site anymore so I don't know what they say about the iPod, but they have been the leaders in Apple rumors for a few years.

Im also waiting on the 5th generation Ipod. I have the 2nd gen. and I need more storage.

I suppose I will wait as well. My parents were going to get me one for my birthday but I might as well tell them to wait until the 5th generation one comes out, because it will supposedly have 3 times the battery life of the previous generation's models.
