I have a laptop - wanna add more RAM. It is 2.0 Ghz, excellent video card and screen resolution lets me 4 table. but to be honest I want to play some games that require 256mb of ram, but should use 512.

What is the best type to buy? are there any restrictions? is adding it a complicated procedure?

It is a Dell - should i buy the RAM directly from them?

Thanks in advance

don't buy from them directly, you will most likely over pay. As I recommended to someone else about a week ago, buying from crucial direct (www.crucial.com) is a good bet. They will match your ram to your computer model, you can't really screw it up, and installation is typically a breeze.

you can install it yourself in 10 mins. don't be scared about opening up your computer -- once it's open, it's literally as easy as popping out an old chip, and clicking the new one into place.

don't buy from dell.
get 512MB at a minimum.
make sure you know what type your computer needs (it's in the computer's tech specs).
shouldn't cost you more than $50

is it ok to remove an old RAM unit (sorry dont know terminoloogy) and replace it with a new one.

example - there 2 slots, one of 128 and one of 256. can i remove the 128 and replace it with a 512?

thanks again.
