Both hands were played fairly well.. There are arguments for playing 4th street differently in both hands, but the way you played had its benefits.

Hand 1 why not just reraise 3rd? It ties people on just like your raise on 4th. If I didn't reraise third it would be so I could bet out on 4th and hope to get raised with the advantage of keeping the pot smallish to get bigger mistakes from them later.

I'd usually bet the river in hand 2, but this guy seems pretty aggressive so maybe the check-call is ok.

Why?

Is this a :: I won't get raised, but I'd call a bet so I might as well bet here incase I'm ahead.

Yeah, it's just a value bet. It's thin enough that I might not make it if I thought I might be raised, but as you say it's not too likely here. And I find that people don't raise on the river as much as they should in stud, so you can often safely fold (but obviously don't do it too often).
