Was watching a movie while playing 2 tables and this hand came up in Party 2/4. Am I losing a lot of value by not 3-betting the river here? How often will I find a hand that will fold to a reraise, call a reraise, or move all-in with nut straight? Comments welcome, looking forward to your criticism of my posting this hand.

I definitely re-raise this... make it $200 or so.

I like a larger bet on the turn. $15ish would be better.

honestly I don't like the way you phrased the question because it sounds like you called and thought you lost value. my first reaction to his raise is to call fearing 79, since he was BB. the only hands I see here are 55, 74, and 79 (no freaking way 33 is in there)... maybe I'm a sissy but I call the river. I don't like the idea of losing my stack to the nuts.

this seems like a results based post. you lost to 79 no? you need to reraise this. if 79 is out there, they played it poorly. go broke or get rich, 3 bet this.

Yes, it was a results based post. What I didn't mention, I had been on a big downswing over the last 48 hours and was able to convince myself with a raise that hefty he either had the nuts or we would chop. I did smoothcall, he did show the nuts to take it down.

This is why I posted this. I felt I played this like a coward and if he does have the nut straight I should probably get stacked. My only excuse is that his river raise is fairly big and is probably either a bluff or a monster. Results-based I am glad I called. Long-term I feel I need to reraise this.

Thanks for the replies,

I think this is a clear reraise seeing that he didn't raise the turn, which he should with the nuts.

Your point about river raise being big (and therefore monster or bluff) is interesting and often true, but in this case the river raise is not big, its offering about 2.5-1
