I am hoping to make a trip to Turning Stone in March. I would like to play in the lower limit holdem games. Can anyone inform me of some of the rules (written and unwritten) on these games. This will be my first time in a B&M game. Thanks in advance for any information.

Turning Stone has 1/3 (1,1 blinds), 3/6 (1,3 blinds), 5/10 (2,5 blinds), 10/20, and occassionally higher holdem. Fridays and Saturday, there is normally at least one table at each limit. During the week, there is normally at least one low limit table and one 10/20 or 15/30 table. They used to have kill games, but those were discontinued for the lower limits a couple of weeks ago.

At part of the Casino's deal with the State, they charge a $2 daily membership fee. You buy a membership card at the cage. In order to receive a meal comp, you need to show the floorperson your card. 1/3 and 3/6 get a $3 comp, 5/10 gets $5, 10/20 and above gets $7.

The collections are $2 for 1/3, $3 for 3/6 and 5/10. 10/20 is a $5 time charge. The collection taken in an unusual way. Whenever the pot is $10 or higher, a pink 'holdem' button is pushed to the winner along with the pot. The winner then returns the holdem button, along with the collection to the dealer. Why? I not entirely sure, again something to do with the Casino's agreement with the state.

One tip, the collection is actual for the next hand, so if you win the pot on the last hand that you play or the last hand before a table breaks, you don't pay the collection.

The atmosphere is friendlier than I have experienced in other rooms, mostly locals who play frequently. The dealers are generally good.

There are holdem tournaments on Monday (1pm, limit, $25 w/$5 rebuys), Wednesday (7pm?, no limit, $65 with one rebuy, one addon), and Saturday (11am, no limit, $25 w/$5 rebuys).

They run promotions on Friday and Sunday. Friday, every two hours from Noon to Midnight, high hand in the room gets $100. Sunday, starting at noon, every flush or better gets a ticket. Tickets are drawn every two hours from 2 to 10 pm. If your ticket is drawn, you win a seat in a $10,000 freeroll to be held May 4. Also, the 10 pm winner also gets $250.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
