View Full Version : Did anybody get a refund for days not used WSOP ME accomodations?

I won a package ($12500) at Bodog, the accomodations were at the Rio from July 6 to July 16. For personal reasons, I checked out July 10. Should I be entitled to a refund by Bodog?

Any experience with something similar?

I think if you don't cash in the tournament they should give you the 10k back too. It's only fair.

From what I understand, people are generally good, every man's death diminishes me, there is a collective soul, God wouldn't give us more than we can handle, Santy Claus is comin to town, and the Easter Bunny has wings made of children's dreams.

No.

You understand than the hotel was paid with MY money (about $1950), right?

Money I WON in a tournament. The accomodations were not a gift like in Poker Stars for example.

I have booked hotels in the past and if for some reason I decided to check out early (lets say 1 week in advance), they have given me a refund (not necessarily 100%). I don't understand why if Bodog was refunded by the Rio with MY money, I have no right to claim any of it. Beats me also, why this is so hard to understand by a poker player, but maybe it's just the good attitude prevalent in this forum.

Did pay for the whole stay or were they paying each day seperatly.

Sorry, man, I just couldn't resist. Just kidding.

Take Aruba, for instance. I am still waiting on a response from them about flying in 3 days later than they schedule, seeing as I am going off on Day 3.

But they are slow to respond, because they prolly think I'm going to ask for some of that portion back (which I WON in a tournament).

But I know that everything's a hustle, and that they wouldn't dream of giving up any built in edge they have.

That's all I meant. I honestly didn't mean to belittle you, and I'm sorry if you took it that way.

(I can see how you would, but as I said, I couldn't resist the opportunity to use the term "santy Claus.")

Scarier question: Spellcheck your 2+2 posts? What is THAT?!

I don't know what to say...this is all so, well, unexpected.

I'd like to thank my father, for being such an obnoxious, sarcastic prick. Without his guidance, I could never have made the insufferably rude and uncalled-for post for which I am being honored.

Anyways I had two friends that qualified through PP and they were given the option to checkout early and recieve something like $200 a day. They didn't stay at the rio though, they were at New York, New York.

Yes, I just got a $910 refund from PartyPoker today, for checking out 4 days early.

YMMV.

I wasn't aware that party was doing this.

I was guessing that party and stars was making a profit on those players eliminated on day 1 who checked out early (some people do have 'real' jobs afterall).
Seemed like a decent strategy for them if you ask me.

I had been out there long enough (as I arrived a week before the main-event) and if I had known that I could have gotten a refund on my hotel-room (don't know if stars did this or not) I probably would have taken whatever cash they would have refunded me and headed home.

Ok, I'll admit it--I am astonished by this revelation.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go send a check to a Nigerian businessman, see a psychic, buy a Lotto ticket and go to church.

I don't understand why if Bodog was refunded by the Rio with MY money

why do you assume this?

i had family come at various times and was shocked at the cancellation policies they have in vegas.

as an example, i can make a reservation at foxwoods, the largest casino in the world, and cancel at 5.59pm the day i was supposed to check in and my CC will not be charged.

otoh, a place like the gold coast and bally's had policies of 48 and 72 hours respectively that was required for cancellation. on top of that, many online sites booked and prepaid blocks of rooms at discounted rates.

i don't think bodog would have gotten a refund even if a guest did not show at all.

I won my seat on Bodog as well and prior to the trip, I asked their rep (Bob) about this possibility. He told me that the hotel would be prepaid and that there would be no refund for not staying the entire time. I asked if I could have the $2500 and make my own arrangements and they were very accomodating.

The key is the word IF (as in a conditional sentence)

Do you see why?

You may be right, I just don't know any place with a 120 hours policy.

Just as a correction, the Gold Coast doesnt have a 72 hour cancellation policy. I checked out early and they simply take a $25 fee and I receive the rest of the money back.
