Well for future reference there are apps out there can can save streaming media no matter the protocol. I used Project URL Snooper to get the URL then Net Transport to save the stream.

Alrighty I'll try to get it up when I can. It's a 550MB file in rm format. I missed the first 50 or so minutes (no one was knocked out at that point) but the remaining 13 hours are there including a captivating dinner hour. /images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Wow. Hopefully someone can come up with the first 50 because hearing that first all-in hand was invigorating. The crowd was electric.

Using bittorrent (http://www.bittorrent.com) would be your best bet here.

I'll eventually get to work on editing what I have, maybe I'll edit the rm file first then add on the part of the show I have from the beginning to have one big file.

you don't have to edit the file or anything. just upload it to yousendit.com. they'll host it for the first 25 people. then some of those people can re-upload it and so on and so forth until everyone has it.

i'll definitely upload it if i'm able to download. 550 megs for the original uploader will of course take a while.

Twitch1977
07-22-2005, 09:27 AM
In my opinion they are better off converting it to a lower bitrate MP3 and uploading that. It would probably be a lot smaller. I did a quick google and there seems to be a few free tools that can handle rm -> mp3.

Maybe worth checking out.

detroitplayer

Yes, with an mp3 you could probably drop the bit rate down to 48 kbs or something. Possibly even mono. It'd cut the file size down by at least 50%. When it's only talking, the drop in bit rate isn't as noticable as it is with music.

Kevmath
07-22-2005, 05:41 PM
You could really drop it down to 16 kbps, I've got 3 separate mp3 files, at 24k it was about 150mb. If I ever get a copy of the rm file, I'll convert the file and add what I have from the beginning (minus the parts where the server died on me) and will be glad to have it available for whomever.

I'm getting a couple mp3s right now which are the whole broadcast except the last hour. I can make a torrent, but it would be better to have the whole show, so if anybody can send me the last hour, in any format, I'll make it available to all on bittorrent.

The torrent has from just after the broadcast starts (not much missed) and has until about the last 55 minutes of the broadcast. I have the last hour of the broadcast from my recording for those that would want that (it's about 10mb).

I hadn't until last night, but I figured it out. Here's what you do:

Go to the page mentioned upthread and search for WSOP. There will be links there for the torrent (save that where you can find it easily) and a program for downloading the actual audio. Download the torrent and the downloading program, and once you set the program up, open the torrent with it. The download should start automatically. Hope that helps!

Oh, and thanks for posting this, you guys. It is awesome.

07-30-2005, 01:11 PM

Because I screwed up the editing, sorry about that. Also, I think there are parts in hr01 that repeat. If someone wanted to, they could re-edit hr01 to remove the repeats and break it into hr01a, hr01b, hr01c and hr01d then post it back onto mininova.

As a note, the 1st hour really IS one hour long. For some reason, if you watch Winamp or whatever mp3 program you use, you'll see the time go by very quickly. I made a conversion of the file to a lower bit rate, and it came up the same length as the other files.

For those looking for the last hour of the final table, head over to http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0D17JJOAWIV391RQGIR3NHLW19

I downloaded the torrent yesterday and my hr01 file is corrupt.

All the other files are exactly 60 minutes in length, but the hr01 is two-hundred something minutes... and it starts messing up right about the time the cards are dealt in the broadcast. Specifically, right at start where Mike goes all in with KK... ironically the exact reason I downloaded this to begin with, to hear that hand!!

Which is weird because it is the exact same file size as the rest -- yet it seems to be four hours in length.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Kevmath
08-03-2005, 02:11 PM
That may have been a problem with the stream, I'll have to see if mine is any better. Regarding the length of the first segment, it really is 1 hour, there seems to have been some problem with the recording. I converted the file and it came up with the 1 hour length of the other segments.

detroitplayer
08-03-2005, 06:00 PM
This must be some kind of anomaly then. My hr01 is well over 2 hours.

Quicksilvre
08-03-2005, 06:34 PM
Mine too--but I had no problems. After it played for an hour it just shot back to zero. Hour 2 started right where hour 1 ended too. Other than the funky length, I can't complain with mine.

Kevmath
08-03-2005, 07:00 PM
If you want just the AA v KK hand, i've put up that hand (starting just after hand 1 ended and 10 minutes total) at http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=070766KRDS903107LE3NJWFU91
