Why do people type this instead of "probably"? Its only 2 letters shorter and, to my knowledge, isn't a common elided pronunciation ("probly" would be closer to what am used to hearing).

2 keystokes less are huge - and "ll" (prolly) is faster to type than "bl"(probly)...

well, i do use probly and there r plenty of abreviations that suck. 2 for to is one letter, hand writing @ isn't even close to being as easy as writing at, but ppl do it. just let it go and don't worry.

When did I say I was worried? I was just curious as to why people do it (and tangentially where it came from, but I didn't mention that).

I know this fifty-something years old british-speaking guy who says mushrobly (most probably). I like the sound of it.

If you speak very fast or mumble, don't you pronounce it "prolly"? Is that just a London thing?

Nice. But can it be pulled off if you aren't "british-speaking"?

Sometimes, though, a person may want to use extra keystrokes because it is "easier", but that's just mah opinion...

I use prolly on occasion, since it sounds like the way I say it out loud/in my head. fwiw.
