At 24h the button is placed incorrectly for HU play; the big blind gets it, not the SB. What are the implications for play?

I think you need to defend much more aggressively and steal more conservatively. Although the proportion of playable hands has not changed, a steal with 27xxx no longer has the advantage of the button on later rounds--- instead you are playing it OOP the entire way.

So, I've been defending with anything remotely playable but entering only with 2-card draws.

HU at 24h is a special treat. I pretty much made the adjustments you've pointed out. I ended up calling with any two below a 5 in the BB against most opponents that were drawing rough. I also tightened up significantly in the SB.
