I ran into this hand in the UB 9500 guaranteed

49 people left, just in the money, I thought that I was the favorite, and that I had a lot of FE. What do you all think about this play? Should I have been patient and waited for another opportunity since I had a large stack?

im 6th in chips, villain is 7th in chips

You can fold this preflop without losing sleep over it. You have 2 rags suited. You don't need to get yourself in trouble or in a spot where its a pure gamble. Muck it PF.

You can fold this preflop without losing sleep over it. You have 2 rags suited. However, if you care more about winning than moving a few points up the latter, you can try to play aggressively and take a nice sized pot off the big stack and perhaps even stack him. Folding is not wrong, but your play is how you play for first. Good hand.

BTW Dur, I hope you are kidding. This would be horrible if that's what you really think.

TheTimeIsUp, the big stack is usually just as afraid of flipping that coin as you are. If you don't put yourself in places to bully opponents with strong hands like hero's I don't see how you can accumulate chips without catching cards.

Edit: two more things

1) Note hero is raising allin not calling allin
2) This is bad if Villian is a calling station

There was 3800 in the pot. 800 for a 3800 pot, I'll see a flop.

Once the flop comes... I play it.

You just don't need to call this. If this is the best possible flop for you, and you are 50/50, that is horrible. You don't need to call with rags pf to put you in an awkward position post flop. Live for another day, this definalety won't kill you.

but you do agree that once he calls that his flop play is the only way to play the hand, unless he is folding his 14 out draw correct?

OP should note that he is flipping a coin, but 50% he is done with the tournament, and the rest of the time he is great shape to win. Depends on your style of play. I tend to defend my blinds more often than not, but against an equal or big stack I will play conservatively.

I also reasoned that if villain has 99 or below im in great shape.... villain bets pot post flop smelled like a bet that didnt want to be called... Just saying my reasoning...

If I'm Villian I bet slightly less than what he did on the flop and fold to the allin. Hero got unlucky that he was against a calling station, nuff said.

This hand was played textbook. Well done, bad players happen.

He is only calling with hands you're a slight favorite over. If you find an opponent who will call you here for all his chips with 99 please join every tournament he enters and enjoy his dead money.

Gigabet is playing a $2,000 tournament where someone folds trip aces to him (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2415418&page=&view=&s b=5&o=&vc=1)

This is pointless. You won't get anything to fold and you're not playing for 2 pair, so don't bother.
