Single table SnG's vs 2table vs 3 table?

while writing this THREAD (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2924451&page=0&view=colla psed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1#Post2924577) comparing SnGs to MTTs, thoughts of multi table SnG's popped up in my head.

i bet lots of people asked the question are multitable sngs worth it when they first appeared, but i dont seem to recall a definite answer.

my gut feeling is that multitable sngs are not worth it and to stick to Single table. my reasoning is that with single table SnGs, 30% of the field get paid. with 3table SnGs, only 16.7% get paid. It also takes ~2hrs, but top payout is not 10x buy-in. it's only 9x. and the payouts are linear.

Has a concensus been formed about single table vs 2table vs 3table? If so, what?

I would agree. I personally play the 2 and three tables on stars for MTT practice because:

a: I can play them when I want
b: I can do the buy in I do ($10), versus a higher buy in (usually $20 or $25) for an MTT.
c: I have a high probability of actually getting paid something, versus busting on the bubble in an MTT /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Personally I enjoy MTTs, but the 2-/3-table SnGs aren't MTTesque enough for me.

Besides I imagine that if there is any form of SnG that has a lot of collusion apart from Steps, it would be the multi-table ones.

I have been 4-tabling on Stars this past month (albeit in VERY limited fashion, stupid bad exam...) and I started loading up 3 single table tourneys and 1 18 or 27 person.

I have been doing so well at the 2-3 table games that now I play 2 18s, 1 27, and 1 single table. Yeah, the % of people that finish ITM is less, but the payout is higher AND I cash in roughly 40-50% of the 18s and 27s combined (like I said, very small sample), so it works for my style.

I really like Stars' non-turbo structure applied to these, and there is more time to get reads of my opponents (including watching players on the other tables in the tourney). oh, and the final tables are VERY tight, so bullying is very +EV to the point that it becomes comical.

Here are two consecutive hands that demonstrate the extreme tightness (this is an 18 person, I'd been bullying a bunch, my KK recently lost to AQ):
