Is it possible to put games (specifically a chess engine or just chess software allowing analysis) on my iPod?

The iPod and virtually all Apple products are essentially closed systems. If it can be done it will require serious hacking -- and some do that. Check the various apple hack sites. Apple doesn't publish APIs for devices like the iPod, so people have a tough time writing software to run on them.

No. If you want to play chess buy either a palm pilot or pocket PC. They play mp3s too.
