My thought at the time was that Villian has been playing solid tight agressive poker thus far (about 30 minutes at the table). That min raise from him screams three hands to me AA, KK or AK based upon his playing style.

I just couldn't fold preflop on this for some reason. So I called saying I would see how he played if an A or Q hit.

Q hits and now I'm really worried he has KK or AA. So I say let's find out how committed he is to the hand (via the Check raise).

His push tells me he definitely has a set or AA or KK.

I'm still working on my NL game, its always hard for me to fold these types of hands. I think I did the right thing for once.

Thoughts?

Thanks
JJ

against unknown, I think fold is fine.

preflop you might want to consider reraising or folding instead of calling out of position with AQo.

You think that he has AA/KK/AK and you want to find out where you are with your TPTK. So you check/raise almost 1/3 your stack on the flop? Does this seem like the best plan to you? First of all, if that is really his hand range, you should just fold preflop. Second of all, it is much cheaper for you to just lead out on the flop for 12 and then shut down if called or raised. Why invest 64 when you can just invest 12? Also, if he has AK and checks through you just gave him a free shot at a 7 outer. Yuck.

Beat me to it. Was just typing this exact thing. Much cheaper way to get info than c/r $64. IMO, checkraising with one pair in a multiway pot is almost always a bad idea.

64 DOLLARS !?!?!!!!

I don't get it. Surely, the same result could have been had for far cheaper.
