I am fascinated with ther concept of Prop Players. Are there are here? How did you get such a job? How much do you make? Do you get the other benefits that one would get being "on payroll" (health insurance, etc.)? Do you do other things at the casiino such as dealing? Do you play any differently knowing that you are making an hourly wage so even if you break even, you win?

B&M props usually make a small salary ($6-12/hr; I've never worked in a room with higher-limit games, so I don't know how much a $40-80 prop makes), and get health benefits. Most take the job strictly for the benefits.

"Breaking even" isn't as easy as it sounds. Props don't get to choose which table they will sit at. They're always playing short-handed. Worst of all, if they find themselves in a tough game, they can't get up.

Full time props are hard to find. Most props deal and prop. I prop once in a while but a lot of times I play half the day until a dealer is needed to open a game. I have early starts so a lot of times the players are drunk and tired so the games are good. I also floor 2 or 3 days a week so for me making money propping isn't a must.

It depends what part of the country you are in. In a lot of markets they don't hire props because they can get teh dealers to do it. I prop full time on-line and have propped in a B&M, online pays a lot better but you can get benefits in a B&M.

Casino pays you to play in games. You stake yourself. Helps start tables and keep them from breaking up.
