So i have a 4$ bottle of vodka - and i have heard that runnig cheal liquor through a Brita filter will "improve" the quality.
Any heard/done this?
number of times to run it through?

here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=vodka+filter)

IIRC, you should filter it a few times (especially if it's $4), and use a new filter each time. Hence, I imagine the process will probably a lot more than just buying a decent bottle of vodka.

I think that actually works good w/ vodka, not as well with most other liquers (like spiced rum would loose some flavor etc.)

You know that 'Isopropyl' isn't another word for vodka, right? /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Filtering is not the same as distillation.

The hangover is going to be bad because it is cheap vodka and has more impurities and more methanol in it than a good vodka.

The solution is obviously to not be a cheap bastard and to drink Ketel One or Ciroc. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Even Crystal Palace would be a significant step up.

Throw away your $4 bottle (the dollar sign comes before the numeral), and get yourself this:

Straight up & chilled. No hangover, and it tastes so good.

Do you realize that the difference between good vodka and $4 vodka is 15 cents worth of charcoal?

Grey Goose is overrated. Sure, it's good, but I don't notice a huge difference in taste compared to something like Smirnoff. Well, vodka is my drink anyway. I drink the [censored] straight out of the bottle.

I've done this with a bottle of Crystal Palace; ran it through a brita 4 times. We all thought it tasted a little better, but not much. Vodka goes through a brita quite a bit slower than water. I think it took something like 45 minutes to filter a handle 4 times. My opinion: worth doing it once, but not twice.

I actually like Ketel One for a 20 dollar a bottle vodka. Grey Goose is not as good as everybody seems to make it out to be. I do not think it is worth the extra money, but I'm not a fan of drinking vodka straight anyway, and if you are mixing it any of the more expensive vodkas will taste about the same and be hangover free. So I maintain that Ketel One or Ciroc are both better choices than some cheap ass vodka and a brita filter.
