here's the thing with gummo for me: i thought the story was actually ok and the movie was done well just as kids was but unlike kids i cringed the entire way through this thing which makes me not want to see it again.

maybe if i drop a couple of tabs and then watch this movie...

nope. korine wrote Kids, but wrote and directed Gummo (which is, well, interesting.) Larry Clark directed Kids (and got a story credit)

I think the movie had its desired effect then, which is why I felt it was well done.

I thought Kids sucked. I saw it like a year ago maybe, and it didn't live up to the hype.

when you are 14 and you sneak into this movie b/c its NC-17 it will live up to the hype no matter what. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The twin brothers scene was very disturbing. I liked the Cockadoodledoo song at the very beginning; grabbed it off Napster.

Glad I saw it once but would never bother with it again. Wouldn't recommend it unless someone was way into white trash/inbred type things, although many of the visuals were well done.

Kids, OTOH, =masterpiece. Funny thing about Larry Clark; his next movie after Kids, Another Day In Paradise is great, but the following one, Bully, is unwatchable.

umm, there was an actual story ? i missed that.

it's one of those movies that is interesting just for the sake of seeing it, but i wouldn't recommend it. i have mixed feelings over it, i can appreciate it for its 'weirdness' for the sake of being weird and the images created to disturb, yet knowing that was the intention without much real substance. in that sense, it worked. but it's also just too obviously done for shock value or whatever (midgets and retards etc kids killing cats etc) to read too much into it.

i agree about the scene with the twins being creepy, and like eating spaghetti in the tub etc. , a lot of the images definitely have a lasting impression and makes you feel disturbed, which i guess is the point.

And if you notice, Telly in Kids (see quote above) is the same kid they get to help them kill that dude in in Bully....which I thought was OK, being based in fact and all.
