you're doing fine.

read and post more.

100 games is not many.

yeah, 6% isn't bad at all. post some hands or HH's if you want feedback.

6% isn't bad, but when I read your post of what is possible, up to 30%! I think im missing something.

To be more specific, 6% on your first 100 isn't bad at all.

Almost everyone starts out losing or only marginally winning -- just keep playing, posting, and thinking about your play and you'll see better results soon enough. Most of those people reporting 30% ROI have been playing a lot longer than you have.

to be fair, this isn't my first time playing SNGs

you need to put 100 games into perspective. I make a living at these, and Ive had a run of over 300 where I broke even.

i haven't coached anybody for about the last month as i've been traveling. i'm back now and full-time SNG's/MTT's for a bit and am taking on one or two more people if anybody needs some help. also willing to back the right candidates. 11-33's is where i can give you the most help...PF hand selection, pre-bubble and bubble play and ITM/HU play are my strengths.

PM me for more info

-Before i get any flack...this thread is from somebody looking for this type of service. I'm sure there are many others who'd like to know as well and i know not many people here are willing to coach...i personally enjoy it and think it helps stregthen my own game.

What other stages of a SnG are there? So, you're basically saying your strength is the entire SnG...

Degen

lol

basically, my strength is the SNG structure and how to exploit each of these levels fully...a lot of ppl play these like a cash game naturally (i did) and that is very, very wrong. Each of those stages requires something different.

What I guess I meant by this was if you want help reading people or playing flops or other normal poker type stuff, i'm not your guy. If you want to know exactly how to adapt your already sound game (and i wont coach somebody if they don't already have a solid game already) to the SNG structure to earn maximum results, then i can help you out.

Nate King...
This is one beginner to another.

You are exactly right...
With your gut feeling that you have basic problems with your play.

I COMPLETELY disagree with the people...
That claim 6% ROI after 100 SNGs is somehow OK.

If I'm doing 6% after 100...
I will quit and do something useful with my time.

IMO...
The Party $11 NL SNG is a very easy game to beat...
There are rarely more than 1-2 good players at a table.

It is waaaaay easier than $2/$4 Limit...
Where there are usually 2-4 good players at each table.

Start over.

Here is a link:

NL SNG Tournament Strategy (http://www.tightpoker.com/tournament/no_limit_sng.html)

Read this 10 times...
Then keep it up each time you play an SNG.

Since you are starting over...
I am not recommending an optimum strategy for experts...
(Which I'm not... but will be in 6 months).

For now... play for 3rd place.
That means you play super tight at 10/15, 15/30 and 25/50 level.

So for the first 30-40 hands...
You only play AA, KK, QQ, AKs. Period.
Nothing else... unless you get a free flop in the BB.
And if your flop does not hit...
Unless it's total rags... FOLD.

In this early period... in 11s...
Anywhere from 2-4 people will bust out.

So you will be sitting there with $700...
And you will be in 6th or 7th place...
And 3rd place is not that far off.

At this point you start to play your regular game...
And advice becomes much more complicated and personalized.

While the "play for 3rd" strategy is not optimal...
Only works at the low end like 11s...
Finishing ITM a lot more will build up your confidence.

I will tell you my exact experience...
But I really don't need any comments from the peanut gallery...
Because I'm a professional trader for 10 years...
And run a very complex trading business...
So the "strategic thinking" of SNG play is second nature to me...
And I know exactly where I'm going with the SNGs...
And I know exactly how to improve my game from here.

I played my 1st SNG maybe 2 weeks ago...
And have played exactly 21 Party 11s...
About one/day.

My PT stats...
ITM 11/21 = 52%
ITM finishes 1/4/6...
ROI 25.5%...
Worst finishes out of 21 games 7th once, 6th 3 times.

You can see that I've won only once...
But have 10 second/third finishes...
So this is sub-optimal...
But I have not even started working on my HU play, blind stealing, ICM, etc.

Also I have not yet created all the software that will help me win...
Like the trading software I have that helps me make 100 trades/day.

Even with those good looking stats...
I consider myself a total beginner.

Anyway...
My main point is...
If your try the "play for 3rd" strategy as a new starting point...
** And have any talent whatsoever **...
Should be able to beat the Party $11s quite easily with at least 10% ROI...
And build on that.

Good luck.

Your first quotes on 2+2 had *me* laughing my arse off, /images/graemlins/wink.gif. Like the fold KK and other such nonesense in certain situations...I tried to forget them as your posts got sounder.

I mean that in a good way though....if that makes any sense...which it hopefully does.
