View Full Version : Is it a baloney sandwich?

Some where over the rainbow, maybe behind the early morning misty fog, or lurking in the shadow of doubt. There is the thought that says to the poker gamblers, the wizards of poker manuscripts are full of baloney. They are the none believers, they have the Missouri mind set of show me now, show me later but I won't believe it until the end of never. Some have even read a poker magazine from cover to cover. Others have actually read some of the published manuscripts. But, they still stand fast to the belief, that any two cards can win. They believe winning is located in the land of Lucky Stars, a recreational park in Any2card Town.

For those poker gamblers who have never opened a book on poker, they will live forever in the land of Lucky Stars. For them it will be days of early rushes and long nights of endless defeat. We can not help them, we can only pray to the poker god that they have good paying jobs and will return often to the poker battle fields.

The other poker gamblers who have read the poker manuscripts fall into one of two groups. The first group, the doubting Thomas's. They hold fast to the concept that Lady Luck will decide who will win and who will lose. They laugh at Patience, agree with Power, never worry about Position, and Politeness is not jumping over the table and killing the guy who put a bad beat on them. They have seen to many rag tag hands win over the years. They have won monster pots with hands the Wizards say should be released. They will tell you, "I'd rather be lucky than good." The one amazing thing about the doubting Thomas's, they are a lucky group of so and so's. They can push the buttons of others and send them to the land of Tilt faster than white on rice. The second group are the Deciders. They have read the words of the Wizards but they came to play, win or lose they want action. They know the truth about the four P's of poker but have decided to play any two cards anyway. They came to have fun.

So the rest of us are the ones who read the manuscripts and believe what the Wizards tell us. But, for some unknown reason we have lapses in memory. We tilt, we gamble, we cry! It is not the other's who destroy us, it is our lack of discipline. We are our own worst enemy, we talk the talk of the enlighten but often walk the walk of the clueless.

Ray,

You need to buy Kosher baloney.

(P.S. I'm thinking of changing the name of this forum to the "Food Forum".)

Whoa, hold on there Chuck. One of the very best meatless copies of meat is Yves Bologna Deli Slices:

I always feel kind of bad letting Ray know about these things, since I know they may be hard to find in his neck of the woods. But at least the Yves slices are in conventional grocery stores here in SoCal (I know, I know...). So they might be more likely than some similar products to show up in the wild North.

I'll take my chances with miscellaneous animal parts rather than those ingredients, thanks. /images/smile.gif

z,

The only correct way to eat baloney is on fresh bread with mayonnaise on one slice, peanut butter on the other slice, and baloney and Lettuce in the middle. It's our own family receipt and it was first created fifty years ago in Chicago.

SPM,...now that's a sandwich...

Well, I'm partial to Grey Poupon Country Dijon. But I have not undertaken the extensive research of mustards that I have of salsas. I suspect there is better out there. On the other hand, I have a feeling my choice is simply unacceptable. /images/frown.gif
