View Full Version : Aaron Kanter 4000-8000 MGM Grand Day After WSOP final table

07-19-2005, 05:16 AM
I saw Aaron Kanter playing the 4000-8000 game at MGM Grand the day after his 4th place finish at the WSOP. What are the odds that he will go bust if he continues playing this game. 2 million dollars is only 250 big bets at this stake. Anyone have thoughts if we will see a repeat of Chris Moneymaker going broke playing high limit live games after his millions earnings? IMO he should take a month off and relax before donating his money to Negreanu, Greenstein and the gang.

if thats true, thats sad. from what i read of him, he's definetely not a top player.

oh well, it will make the big game games pretty happy.

Ugh MGM barely could get 10/20 going. Was this HU? Who was the opponent?

During the live broadcast Todd Brunson was crying because Mike M. got knocked out first at the final table. Brunson said if Mike won the main event, he (Brunson) would have made $2,000,000 off Mike in the big game at the Mirage. It was hillarious.

Sounds like this guy may be stepping in for Mike...

this 'phenomenon' of some guy winning a bundle in a tournament and then blowing it all in a big game (or the pits) is actually quite common. I don't play anywhere near 4k/8k, but I do see people who traditionally play 5/10 and winning 40k or 80k, then suddenly play 200/400. They're usually broke within the month.

I heard Danny joke about it, as you did. So either Todd came on some other time that I missed or autobet's recollection of what happened is just way out there since $2M was never mentioned by Danny either nor was Danny suggesting that he himself would be playing Mike, instead only joking that the big game folks were hoping that he would win the $7.5M.

I think Jen shushed him because she was being sensitive towards Mike's feelings and probably embarassed for him to know that the "corporation" or whatever that group calls themselves these days collectively thinks of him as a fish.

This is exactly the case, even in the home game scene. I would be interested to know where Kanter ended up in the big game, although I never realized they played a 4K/8K at the Mirage.

either the OP is a troll or the OP meant to say Bellagio big game.

Call me a troll, but the big game pretty much goes where it can get started. Before bellagio, mirage, grand etc, the big game was held at the Regents. Regents is probably not known by the majority of the players out there. Why would I make such a irrevelant ficticious post, there are other things one can lie about. I just think its interesting that a player who has played the WSOP all week, get lucky to beat out a field more talented than him, does not have the sense to take some time off, and or put a majority of that money out of play.

The Kid is 25, if he does it right, he might never have to work a day in his life. However, he can lose his whole bankroll, not to mention, liferoll in a matter of a few sessions at that game.

BTW - 4000-8000 games were everywhere during the the wsop circuit tournaments, including off the beaten path casino's such as The Rincon.

Apparently there was both $4K-$8K and high-stakes NLHE at the Golden Nugget during the 2004 WSOP too.

Everybody busted on how bad Varkonie played after he won, but at least he had the brains to not jump into the biggest game around. The guy played 20/40 after he won the World Series.
