I worked my way up the limits and started playin 10/20 in march. I've been winning 3bb+ for my first 50,000 hands on it. However for the last 11,000 hands (of 61,000 total hands at 10/20) I'm down about 135-150bb. I've been on this streak since july 1st. I feel my play hasn't changed. Is this a typical downswing? My vpip is down to 16.65 instead of the usual 18-19, although this could be accounted for by lack of hands. Agg. factor is the same around 1.5 and my pfr has barely gone up to 8.7. I've definitely had some bad beats. I played a lot of tournaments during my losing streak but now I don't play so many, could the tourneys be responsible for changing my play? Maybe I'm just looking for some reassurance but any suggestions are appreciated.

If you were winning at a good rate for 50K hands, you're most likely playing well. This is just a downswing. Keep playing your game and it'll turn around.

the longterm is very long sir, most likely a downswing.

The reason you've been able to run at 3+ bb/100 is most likely beacuse you haven't had any big downswings yet. The reason it's usually considered almost impossible to run at 3+ bb/100 at most limits is because everyone hits a downswing eventually.

I remember BK comin down here and experimented 8-table Party 2/4. He said the play is ridiculously easy and could be beaten for 4-5 BB/100. Maybe for him...

10/20 != 2/4

Also the downswing may have effected your play...you may have become more cautious and less aggressive. It happens, but dunno...if u were a winning player you probably still are.

I find whenever Im on a downswing, and its affecting me (well its only been once that it has effected me -- had a 110 bb downswing, my previous was only 50bbs and 80bbs) I go and play the .50/1.00 tables, loosen way the hell up and just get aggressive as hell. Did this a week ago, dropped 50bbs playing the micros, and once I finally started folding and not raising when I knew I was beat...then I racked up a 100bb profit.

Point is, I find it beneficial to go crazy, LAG up some tables while going through a tough time...I actually learn a lot from it, and it stops me from becoming a pussy. Helps me when I find myself tighting up, become passive (calling down instead of raising or folding) because of a losing streak.
