For some reason, this hand gave me a lot of trouble. Do I really want to call this without position?
Button hadn't been too out of line, up to this point.

yeah, don't like these suckers. if i had 1/2 a nad, i'd let it rip over top. raising makes it extremely difficult to play the flop. me, i just call. making a pot sized bet on a Q-high, A-high, 2-diamond flop....check/fold otherwise /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Seems like a blind steal to me. He could raise with a wide range here. I don't think a call is correct, you most likely have the better hand. I think you should reraise to around 750.

My typical play is to push here. You can also call and hope the BB pushes, but raising to 1K will pot commit you for no good reason.

Interesting. Certainly eliminates position issue.
I need to figure out when, exactly, I lost my testicles.
Perhaps Bluefeet and I need some hormone replacement therapy?
Go shoot some guns, it makes you feel real manly.
It would take a really good read for me to even think about not pushing here and if I had that good of a read and was confident the other player had a monster I'd probably just fold.
PS I stand by my gun shooting comment

Is this a function of stack sizes, exclusively?
Several things, the blinds are increasing and you need to accumulate chips.
The button, is in fact, the button and a general rule of thumb is that raises from the button (and to some extent the CO) are going to be by a much wider range of hands than raises from earlier position so therefore button raises are going to be folding to pushes a higher % of the time than ppl who are raising from EP.
Nobody likes calling off their stack with KJs, which is probably within his range of raising.
I think AQs has the majority of his raising range dominated, but you are only going to hit the flop 33% of the time and there is a good chance when you do hit you won't get paid and if your plan is to check/fold the flop than you are going to be folding way way too much of the time to justify a call.
So just do what your avatar says and push it baby.

I move allin preflop...your hand is too strong against the buttons typical range. I know its unpleasant when you are in such good position, but sometimes you have to put it all on the line in marginal seeming situations.

Didn't realize it was so clear cut.
Interesting that when I was just starting, I would have seen AQd and pushed instantly.
Now that I am "better" I look down at it, and my nuts crawl back into my abdomen.
