I'm ripping this from my BLOG
Grinderswarehouse - NOT just another BLOG (http://www.grinderswarehouse.com)
and PLEASE feel free to rip it apart - I was just doing this on the fly.
The Party Poker High Hand and bad Beat tables intrigue me so I decided to look into those. Especially when I found out that my Royal Flush of last?? week would have won me $1000 or more. So I decided to do a little number study.
The .50 extra rake per hand is the downer so I wanted to see what this actually meant.
I logged on and got onto two 2/4 tables - both seem REAL fishy. I played about 100 hands at both tables and won $83. However - once the fishy session was finished I was surprised at the numbers I had accumulated.
The actual Flop for both tables was 36.99% - actually LOWER then the normal 2/4 tables which are at 37.20%. And the Pots were a tiny bit smaller $27.96 compared to $28.59 - and what I was MOST interested in was the Rake. Now remember - I only had 190 total hands, I'll have more after this weekend.
MY total rake in 20,000 Party 2/4 averages 1.93BB/100 (yours may vary). Last night, with the added .50 per hand I was at 2.75BB/100. It's ALMOST a 1BB/100 spanking.
For the table the average person in a normal 2/4 game the average is 2.45BB/100 - in a High Hand table the average rake for an average person is 3.1BB/100, about 0.65BB/100 above the norm.
So - you have to factor in The Royal Bonus and I'm walking on the edge of swamp land now so I'm ONLY guessing. Right now the jack pot is $5000. 70% of that is used and the winner of the Royal will get 70%. But lets Keep this simple and average this out to the entire table. $3500 gets spread all around to the 10 players. Each player gets $350 for a Royal. Since a Royal gets hit every . . .40,000 hands??? and there are 10 players that means every 4000 hands at a table. SO - every 4000 hands you will get a $350 bonus. The problem is that in those 4000 hands you will be paying an additional (.65*4=$2.6) ($2.6*40=$104) $104. hmmmmm
Of course there are times when the Royal will hit and less then 4 players will be in the flop AND there are times when there will be no rake. In 2/4 only 56% of the hands were raked so about 1/2 of those Royals will get NO bonus, So instead of a Royal every 4000 hands lets make it every 8000 hands. This STILL makes you pay only $208 for a $350 bonus for every 135 hours of play. hmmmmm
PLEASE - feel free to dispute any of these numbers - I'm doing this on the fly off the top of my head.
What am I missing - any math experts around?
I'll have to do more number crunching on this!
