There are three dimensions that we exist in fully, and understand fully.

There is a fourth dimension (time) that we travel in one direction, and understand partly.

What does modern thought say about other dimensions?
Is time actually a dimension?
Why do we travel only in one direction through time, instead of two directions like every other dimension?

Someone will likely correct me, but it seems to me we only travel in one direction in the three dimensions as well (because of universe expansion).

modern physics theory states there are 10 dimensions. This is from M-theory.

Basically all these dimensions are rolled up so we can't really see them.

To give you an idea imagine you are a 2d creature and you live on a sphere. What does the sphere really look like to you?

"Is time actually a dimension?"

some people believe time is really just an illusion.

google "the holographic universe" if you are into this stuff.

time is not a dimension and can actually go backwards (not in the sense that events go backwards).

we live in 3 spatial dimensions and 1 temporal dimension. We can only go forward in the temporal dimension.

You are making an inexcusable assumption when you say that time has a direction.

It appears to be directed towards increasing entropy.

I don't think physics has ever proven anything.

Probably we travel only in one direction through time, because there is somewhere another world like ours who is traveling in the opposite direction.

Thoerist consider time to be a dimension, which is described as space-time. Since space-time is considered to be curved requires another dimension, which is actually the fifth dimension .
