If you had to have one of the following accents for the rest of your life, what would it be? You may choose your four favorites.

-ptmusic

p.s. assume your accent was authentic-sounding, and please excuse the obvious combining of similar accents.

I said Italian as long as its not the cartoonish...."Sit-a down. I make-a pizza for alla you!"

I'm incredibly pissed Irish isn't on there. I would pick Irish.

then I would go to a bar and celebrate my new accent.

what kind of "English"?

Hamish McBagpipe

Aye, too vague, Upper Perthshire should be an option in the Scottish category along with the classic Sauchiehall St. Glasgow accent and the regional dialect of the third house on the left, Water St., Dundee.

Yeah, I know English is too vague, but so are at least half of the rest. Being very thorough would obviously be an unbelievably long list of accents. Hence, my request to excuse the combinations.

If there is enough interest, perhaps I'll do another one with all the suggestions in this thread, perhaps categorized in groups of accents.

Knew a guy in college with an aussie accent who got more ass than a toilet seat. There is no other answer than this.

As soon as I saw the thread, I knew my answer was going to be "Jamaican." I am disappointed.

why anyone would voluntarily choose to have a southern accent is beyond me. that is easily a distant last place for me.

My dad is British and has the slightest British accents (unlike my FLA aunts and uncles who have been over here longer and have the most intentionally-thick accents). However, my dad has become a self-proclaimed "country boy" and tries to talk with a country accent, which is hilarious.

Girls like English accents. The girl I'm dating and I decided that I'm going to learn to speak in an English accent, and she's going to learn to speak in a central American accent. (Like Salma Hayek)

this is different though, when you say English i am assuming you mean British correct? if so, girls melt for that [censored] you are definately right but it's different because we are in america and american women find accents from different countries (australian, english, canadian, french) sexy but the women from those countries don't think anything of those accents where as women in our very own country find southern accents sexy as do women in other countries.

When in the south, I try to keep it at bay. Outside of the south, I let it loose. Southern charm should never be under-estimated.
