Each of the final 9 players is guaranteed $1,000,000, just for their poker skills. In addition, can they get paid for wearing hats/shirts/tatoos (hopefully temporary) that adverise other companies? Several of the final 27 wore hats with the Nike Swoosh clearly visible.

Furthermore, will there be restictions by Harrahs/Espn on player's adverting on-line poker sites- .net or .com?\

Wonder what the going rate is. Does the winner (seen by millions) get a further bonus?

I know I would whore out to anyone but Wal-Mart or an oil company if I had the opportunity.

NASCAR would have nothing on me...

Assuming it's the same restrictions used in the other final tables at this year's WSOP, the restriction is one logo, with a total size of no more than 1" x 3", and can be on the hat or shirt.

Additionally, they only allowed players to represent online casinos (don't know if it applies to other businesses as well) that they had contracts with *before* the tournament started. In other words, final table players would not be allowed to negotiate a deal after making the final table if they didn't already have a contract prior to the tournament start.

I don't know if it's the same at the Main Event, but that's how it was earlier in the series. And, no, I don't know if/how they enforce the rule about having a prior contract.

somehow I'm picturing "Tin Cup" at the US Open with 14 logos from local small businesses...

"Bob's Meat Market"
"Joe's House of Hardware"
"Alterations by Connie"

that sort of thing!

too bad AcesUp had to come along with actual facts and ruin the fun.

Oh please.. If Walmart or Texaco splashed down a couple million in front of your face, you'd be their bitch.

I do have a sell-out point but it would be a lot higher than what either of those two would realistically pay.

Personally, a poker site could kill orphans and I'd wear it's crap... Unless they wanted me to wear an orphan corpse, that's where I draw the line

First Bank of Salame was a good one too.

Where did you hear this? I ask because I don't think it's true. I won my seat at pokerstars and didn't take the sponsorship option. They sent me an email stating basically what you said above -- e.g., I couldn't change my mind if I made a final table. However, I read through the wsop contract at the time (I was in vegas) and it didn't say any such thing. What's more, I spoke to one of the tournament directors and they claimed to never of heard of this restriction. I also noticed in a few of the final tables I watched during the series that players were putting on shirts of online casinos WHILE the action was taking place.

It just makes me think that pokerstars was trying to pull a fast one to get us to wear their logos. If you have other info to contradict this I would be interested in hearing about it.

From Barry Shulman on Cardplayer.com:

I happen to know that several of the final table participants are running around trying to secure the best sponsorship deals they can from online sites who want the players to don their logowear. This diffusion of energy may cause them to lose focus. Meanwhile, Matushow is resting up for the final push and not diverting any of his focus. This could add up to even greater edge for Mike.

I recall the PPT had a provision where if you weren't sponsored, you couldn't wear logos at the final table. Noah (Exclusive) Boeken won his seat thru Stars, later had on Full Tilt Poker gear, then switched to Bodog.
