View Full Version : On behalf of all of 2+2.. (Raymer congratulation thread)

I would like to say congratulations to Greg "Fossilman" Raymer for such a wonderful performance at the Main Event over the past 2 years. Not many people could win the main event, let alone beat out 5600+ players to come in a very respectable 25th place the very next year. Thanks for being such a great representative of 2+2 and best of luck in the future.

Here! Here! Greg "fossilman' Raymer has been a great contributor to this forum. I personally owe him a big debt of gratitude for sharing his knowledge of poker with me. But more than that for just being a friend. He is a true gentleman. He's simply "the best". Congradulations Greg! And Congradulations to Cheryl and Sophie too!

To win against 2300+ competitors (and making it look pretty easy in the process) and come right back and get that close against 5,600+, simply has to be considered one of the greatest achievements in poker history.

A class act on top of all that. I know he can't wait to do it again next year. Congrats.

Greg, I have always wanted to tell you that the game of poker is very lucky to have had such a respectable champion for the last year. I was hoping with all I had that your reign would last another year because I truly believe that you represent the best things about the game. A disappointing way to end, but the result is still a magnifent one, and I hope that your disappointment in not advancing further does not overshadow the true greatness you have acheived in your mind. A heartfelt congratulations from someone that has been reading these forums for a few years and learned a lot from your wonderful help before you were ever "World Champion."

I think I speak for everyone when I say we are all proud of the way you have represented us.

Most inspiring thing about Greg's play - down to 3500 the first day, he comes roaring back to get to $40,000. And down to 27, he continued to press and put the pressure on the other players. Only a bad steal attempt which turned into a bad beat knocked him out.

Kudos to you Fossilman.

I add my congratulations. An excellent poker player, class act, and from what I can tell, an all around great guy. Bravo, Greg!

Greg, congradulations on a very good run this year's WSOP ME. Your gentlemenlike approach to the game is an example of true professionalism to be looked up to. I wish you and your family all best for the future. John.

Good going Greg.

You are an inspiration in ways you would probably never guess (and I mean that in the most positive sense).

What an impressive 2 year run Greg, I was hopin to see you final table it again this year with Ivey but bad beats happen. At least you helped shut up some of my stupid friends on the Raymer vs Moneymaker issue. Nuff Said!
Look to see you in the Top 10 next year!

The class you display at the table is much appreciated. I hope you remain an ambassador of the game for many years to come.

Congrats.

Does all this mean a rush release on the Fossilman book? And will it have Fossilman's quote on the back?

Actually, I would say he has 4 impressive finishes in huge field tourneys. Didn't he finish in the top 30-40 in another huge event at the WSOP? When an event has over 2000 people in it, finishing in the top 100 is tough enough.

Yeah he has moneyed in all 2000+ fields in the WSOP. Only Devilfish has been close with 3 cashes and 2 final tables.
