View Full Version : Best Comedy of the Last 30 years - Round One

Ok, time for the poll to begin. If your favorite movie isn't included, tough luck. Just blame it on the retarted pollster's inability to understand what makes a comedy.

The seeding was done based on IMDB's average user rating. I disagree with many of these ratings and seeds, but at least this way it's all consistent instead of relying on me seeding them. As a result there are some brutally tough matchups in these early rounds, deal with it.

Anyway, here is round one...

The fucker poll reverted all the questions. Sorry about that. Start at the bottom if you want to proceed the proper way.

I can't believe either Mallrats or Napolean Dynamite will make it to the next round, but some surefire Final Four movies won't make it past this round because they are up against another Final Four.

I understand your reasoning, but it isn't reasonable.

Some brutal matchups there. There were a couple where I voted for the movie I liked better, but was not necessarily the funniest movie between the 2 (if that makes sense).

So far I'm loving how Hannah and Her Sisters is getting smoked (haha) by Cheech and Chong. This goes to show that the average IMDB guy doesn't know nearly as much as us 2+2 bastards when it comes to comedy...

Tough draw for Fletch in the first round, looks like it won't be able to make it past Office Space. That one took me the longest to vote on. Also History of the World versus Spinal Tap is a tough one.

Anyone have any intersting prop bets on the Kevin Smith movies? I would think they'd do better than you'd expect from a random crowd given that the voting is done by 2+2ers

How the hell is The Blues Brothers, one of the great classic comedies of all time, not crushing Kingpin?

Shajen
07-14-2005, 02:49 PM
Because Blues Brothers, while a great movie, with a lot of quotable scenes, isn't really all that funny?

Although Kingpin pretty much blows Moose cock too.

(For the record I voted for Blues Brothers, mainly because Kingpin was horrible.)

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles losing to Christmas Vacation is a mockery of a tragedy of a sham.

Also pretty painful putting up Something About Mary vs Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I'm not surprised the former is winning, but the latter deserves much better.

Trading Places v. The Jerk is just crual. These are two classics and should each be 1 and 2 seeds respectfully...

Also, DOGMA v American Pie is tough. I figured each of these for 3-4 seeds in this size field.

Great work overall.

Billy Madison is probably one of the worse movies ever to come from the SNL croud, and that's saying a lot.

How it could be on the list over the likes of 50 First Dates or even something like Duece Bigalow.

Ace Ventura
Super Troopers (OR The life of Brian)
Billy Madison (OR The PrincessBride)
Wayne's World
Austin Powers
Napoleon Dynamite
