NL100 game

Hero is sitting with $79 in chips
Villain1 has $95
Villain2 has $220.

I get dealt 9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif9 /images/graemlins/heart.gif. I raise 2rd to act to $4. Villain1 immediately calls and the big blind also calls.

($13) Flop comes 4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif9 /images/graemlins/club.gif4 /images/graemlins/club.gif. Flopped the boat.

V2 bets $1, hero calls $1, V1 raises to $5, V2 calls $5, hero calls $5

($28)Turn 4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif9 /images/graemlins/club.gif4 /images/graemlins/club.gif3 /images/graemlins/club.gif

v2 checks, hero bets $7, v1 calls $7, v2 calls $7

($56)River 4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif9 /images/graemlins/club.gif4 /images/graemlins/club.gif3 /images/graemlins/club.gif4 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

Better betting would have you all-in by now. Villian is far more likely to hold on overpair to the board, given his new weak stab. Raise to $30.

how would you have played on flop and turn

You shouldn't have a decision on the river. Make it 15 on the flop and bet half your stack on the turn and river.

Call the river with the way you played.

How many people are sitting at the table? If this is 6-max, I think the pre-flop raise is fine, if it's 10-max, I hate it.

Raise the flop, bet more on the turn, push the river.

well no way i was gonna fold at the river. it was a 10-max game, but i was trying to mix it up because everyone was folding to raises.

i always have a hard time playing flopped fullhouses. I want to insure calls?

Your best way to ensure a call when you've got big hands, is to play worse hands very aggressively.

The fact of the matter is that all of your money should have been in before the river.

I don't hate open-raising with 99 at all in early position in a ten-handed game, but this = a burning issue in the hearts of men that may ne'er be resolved.

I would have 3/4-potted the flop, potted the turn, and gotten the rest in on the river.

with potting the turn and 3/4 betting the flop what hands do you think are calling me on that board? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Seriously, its ok to slowplay a flopped fullhouse sometimes. Not a horrible play. I raise the river hard. Forgot that AA loses to your 99.

Four, high pocket pair, club draw with overcards.

You appear to have two out of three in there with you.

well a 4 would of been really bad considering he would of made 4 of a kind. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes, but this = results-based thinking. Take comfort in the fact that's now the least-likely mathematical possibility, and that you're getting well over 2:1 on any amount you choose to put in on the river.

usually, i slow play top full's. but if you decide to take the lead, then continue betting.

assuming you lead the flop, you should have led the turn for more. on the river, lead again (value bet) and call a push. if hes got 4 4's, then so be it, but you'll be shown TT, JJ, QQ, etc plent of times in a game of that level

if this is a full ring game then i hate that Preflop raise... I generally only raise with AA, KK, QQ, AK, AQ second in in a full ring game and I'll play JJ down for set value preflop and pair value on a missed flop...

push on that river... he likely has an over pair and your nines full fo fours will dominate his fours full of jacks...

ps it should all be in the middle before the river

my first impulse was to raise all in,but after some reflection ,i think calling here is the thing.either way, ill probably lose my stack to a 4X.

You want to be building a huge pot in this hand, and you only got like one-sixth of your stack in the middle by the river. Remember, to build a big pot, betting $20 and getting called by 1 person is better than betting $5 and getting called by 4.
