Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, .25$ BB (10 handed) http://216.119.70.224/converter/hhconverter.pl

MP3 ($19.10)
CO ($27.50)
Button ($8.65)
SB ($16.75)
BB ($21.40)
UTG ($30.10)
UTG+1 ($34.45)
Hero ($17.98)
MP1 ($83.29)
MP2 ($10.60)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with 8/images/graemlins/club.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG+1 calls $0.25, Hero calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, CO calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.25) 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 7/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">BB bets $1</font>, UTG+1 calls $1, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $4</font>, CO folds, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 calls $3.

Turn: ($10.25) A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks.

River: ($10.25) T/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets $9</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $19.25

I guess my question is "Was my check behind on the turn stupid?"

Does the fact that the third /images/graemlins/diamond.gif was the A make it less likely it made him a flush?

Any comments appreciated.

I usually bet 1/2 pot on the turn here and fold to a big checkraise (I'll call a small checkraise if I've got implied odds to fill). Then you will often be able to check behind on the river as they'll check/call their flush on the turn hoping to checkraise the river. If they check/call the turn and then come out betting strong on a non-board-pairing river, I fold.

Thanks. You're probably right that it's better not to just concede not having the flush, as it gives a free card to the singleton d and invites bluffs on the river (which this may have been).

It just seemed to me pretty certain that he had it.
