View Full Version : It finally happened (a bad beat I enjoyed)

I just suffered the mythical Super/System beat:

Party $5/10, JJ in the BB. Limp, limp, complete, I raise, UTG limp-reraises, limper calls, SB folds, I cap, two callers.

Flop: J 6 6. I bet, UTG raises, limper calls, I 3-bet, UTG caps, limper calls.

Turn: 6. I bet, they both call.

River: 6. I check, they both check and AK splits with A3.

Feels like some sort of coming of age for me. And, nice checking on the river there, boys.

Guy.

what a shame for the 5/10ers that all the fish moved down to 3-6

They were probably afraid of quints.

Don't be silly. There are only four 6s in the deck. What they were afraid of is that Hero might have been holding JJJ.

That happened to me once, but I didn't enjoy it like you. Are you mad in the head?

I've been losing so much in the last 20k hands, this one just seemed more interesting than getting five-outered on the river.

Missing bets seems to be the new fashion at $5/10, though. Just played this one: raise with AK, cold caller behind, flop K66, I bet the whole way and he just calls the whole way holding A6. Not sure what he was afraid of.

Okay I'm moaning now. I'll stop.

Guy.

I was so caught up in the bad beat part of your post that I missed the fact that 2 players checked the river with the nuts.

That McSucks. But you are right....the ultimate place to be is where you just play the hand correctly and brush it off with no more than an indifferent sigh.

I prefer to brush it off with a few choice words.

Interesting. The same thing happened to me, except the board was 2 9 9 9 9 and I had pocket 2s.

You're officially invited to me place to come and watch me any time you're in the UK. I can promise some inventive yet unconvincing swearing in my BBC-English accent.
