BB was an ok player, thought he might try and steal this w/ 2nd pr or worse. I minraised the flop hoping he would see it as more strentgh then a push. I hoped he would lay it down right there, and if not I was going to push the turn.

How terrible is my play here?

I would push preflop.

As for calling the flop bet ? I would not try and steal after that bet with middle pair.

If I had a read on the player and put them on a steal attempt then I MIGHT try something tricky.
