I'm interested in learning the math behind determining best hand odds calculation similiar to some of the software available the says that "your hand should win 71% of the time" and so forth.

I've gone through this forum and a number of others and have googled this to death but haven't found any good references yet that I can study.

Lets say I have Ad Jd and the flop is Kh Jc Jh. In my mind I have a fair idea of what my chances are and what can beat me but I would like to learn to be able to calculate the odds. I know already that this is going to be quite complex but if the alogorithms can be quantified, I may write my own software to assist me. I won't trust any of the commercial versions until I understand better the math.

If any of you can point me in the right direction to get started I would apppreciate it. Thanks.

Maybe I should explain some more. I'm not looking for more software, I'm looking for less. I currently use PT, GT+, Texas Calculatem, and an app of my own.

I would like to get rid of Calculatem. I only use the odds calculations in it and don't have any use for it's reccomendations or other functionionality. If I can determine the math, I would build the odds calculations into my own app. The same for GT+. There is a lot about it I like, but I would like more flexibility.

My own app at present is somewhat primitive but is growing. A screenshot is shown below.

The app at present shows my personal history for a hand from PT, my own recomendations for flop strategy for a looose or weak table and the EV for the hand. The screen shot shows it for a 10 player table. I can show the EV for tables for 2-10 players. Eventually I would like to get rid of TC and GT+ and build the functionality of both into this. The start is looking at the math behind best hand calculation which is the reason for this post.

The app above is using a test PT db, not my actual current history.
