Ok so I am basically a tourney player however, like all players I subsidize tourney entries with ring games. Currently I am playing 2/4 Full with 28% rakeback and doing 'ok'. I just got back into ring game not too long ago and am still plugging leaks. My hands are at about 50% raked at the moment as well. My questions are these...

Could I make equivalent rakeback on 1/2 6-max 4-tabling as 2/4 Full 4-tabling due to the $5 minimum pot for rake, and the added hands per hour?

Does anyone strongly suggest a winning player on 2/4 Full stay away from 3/6 6-max on party without at least spending about 10K hands in the 1/2 6-max minor leagues?

Also, I have been linked to some nice strat threads but the more the merrier so any gems would be great, I remember a terrific 6-max thread back in the day that linked to everything a man could want, but can't find it in the archives now. Sorry for the noobish questions I'll be happy to help any of you over in MTT land if you ever need it.

The link threads I have in my memories are:

I would say jump into 1/2 for a day or two, and if you feel comfortable go ahead to 3/6.

really depends on your bankroll. I was mostly a SNG player with an occasional dabble in ring games. I jumped into 5/10 6max with a decent bankroll, and learned from there. The rakeback makes a nice way to pay off breakeven and slightly losing play.

More. Some calculations. (AP= av.players, AR= av. rake, all calculations are for 4 tables)

1/2 (6max), AR $0.52 , AP 5.45, hands/hour 360
((0.52/5.45)*360)*0.28= $9.61 rakeback

2/4 full, AR $0.93 , AP 8.98, hands/hour 220
((0.93/8.98)*220)*0.28= $6.37 rakeback

I plugged in my own AR, AP and hands/hr numbers and I have a rather small dbase for 2/4 full (around 8000 hands) so they might be a bit off

Either way your SH rakeback should be more then your FR rakeback 1 limit higher.

Yep. Maybe you won't need a full 10k, but I'd put in at least 4-5k, see how it goes.

6max is a different animal IMO, and takes some adjusting. I moved from 3/6 full to 5/10 6max and was greeted with a 180BB downswing. I am sure a great deal of it was my idiocy, but the games are swingy. IMO the biggest hurdle is feeling comfortable/confident, and you may be able to build up each at 1/2.

Judging from your tournament ability, I think you can easily handle 3/6 shorthanded. I'd say use that as your minor leagues and eventually move up to 5/10shorthanded.
