Maybe I've been spoiled by twoplustwo, but when a post I made two days ago is still the most recent and has not been replied to at what's supposed to be a decent forum for car audio (sounddomain), I'm unimpressed. Google has not found anything much better.

Are there any active, generally knowledgable forums out there for those who want to learn more about this stuff? I'm doing the installation for my system myself, with help from a skilled friend, in no small part because I want to learn more about the process. There are a lot of things I'd like to hear educated opinion on as I go.

There really should be a twoplustwo for everything, anyone know of one for mobile audio?

www.avsforum.com (http://www.avsforum.com) is the best I've heard of for all audio.

Hmm, I got excited, as I've used avsforum in the past for HT stuff, and it's excellent. But unless I'm missing it, nothing on car audio.

I used to know a pretty damn good one, but I can't think of the name. Sorry, I'll keep thinking, and maybe I'll remember.

rec.audio.car used to be pretty informative.

edit: also, from what i remember, most of the forums were pretty informative on part selection and reviews, but were lacking on installation experience, as many posters had things installed for them.

not very pretty, but a lot of good info if you look around and a lot of helpful answers if you show respect.

Actual unbiased equipment reviews would be great too. User reviews for car audio are next to useless, since everybody's convinced their stuff is the [censored]. I'm looking for a sub/amp/enclosure right now, and good info is hard to come by.

unbiased is impossible to get, but if you read what the people who hate somehting say and what the people who love it say and kinda average it out, you can get an idea of what somehting will be like. also, home audio reviews seem to be (slightly) less biased, so companies that market their drivers to both may have other reviews you can look at (focal, dynaudiocome to mind here).
