I am going to begin working on a set of rules for the tournament this weekend. If anybody has any suggestions, I am listening. For example, since this is a pot-limit tournament and everybody is used to no-limit... I will have to have a specific rule for what to do when somebody says "all-in" and the opponent says "I call," even though the pot is $3 and they both have $100 in front of them. (This will either be called the "ForumBot Rule" or the "Moeran Rule.")

In other news: Gigabet refuses to be locked out of the event. Since I have to be fair to the several other players that were locked out... I can't simply let him in just because he's Gigabet. However, a few players have volunteered to play Gigabet in a preliminary match to see who gets the slot for the tournament.

Here's the final list again of paid entrants, with Gigabet possibly substituted for one unfortunate soul.

1. Skipperbob
2. Irieguy
3. Raptor
4. Zen
5. Daliman
6. Usher
7. Unarmed
8. Mosdef
9. Wuwei
10. Yugo
11. Ilya
12. John Hurst
13. JohnnyBeef
14. Apathy
15. ImSoLucky
16. Lacky

I'll post the rules if Citanul lets me... since that'd be easier than getting the email address for everybody who's either playing or gambling on the Calcutta.

Dear Gigabet,

Hello, my name is John, and I am a beefcake. I will give you my seat on one condition. You must wrestle me and pin me. If, however, I pin you, you owe me the sum of my buyin, plus all calcutta bids that I have made.

Sincerely,
Johnnybeef

post rules yo.

if we can find another 16 interested parties, can it be expanded?

how much does it cost? where will it take place?

I assume it's online? What's the buy-in?

If it's 50 or less I'm in...

It's live. It's too late to get in. And all threads on this subject make me sad.

I'd be willing to give up my seat if the price was right. *cough* PM me Giga *cough* /images/graemlins/wink.gif Why do we have to wait 2 more months again?@?#$?

BTW, citanul mentioned to add another 16. Why can't this be possible? I could probably name at least 4 off the top of my head that would want in.

Also, I hope we have more than 1 table because when I inevitably go out early bluffing of my chips I want to play a SNG or something. If that doesn't happen, please please please make sure we have a router with internet access. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

next time i'm in vegas i'll have to meet up with some of you all.

As long as we're screwing around with the format. Could we go ahead and do the blind draw Calcutta so that the posturing, bargaining, and bartering can commence well before the first round?

(read: So whoever gets Yugo can try to get some value out of it before he is eliminated on the first hand . . . and yes, I know it is pot-limit.)

i'm not sure it's so easy to recruit 16 more. sure, you could easily find 16 people that like the idea of playing, but when it comes to actually paying the fee, arranging travel, committing that weekend months in advance, it starts to lose it's appeal.

Huh. Dude you know they'll send a limo for him obviously. Come on now, if I were a host at the Wynn and I saw some young kid blow through a brick of 100's in 2 minutes I'd send his ass a jet full of candy. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is not a bad idea....Since I trust both you & Slacker (one more than the other, but who's counting) why don't you go ahead & conduct it!....Post the results on this Thread. Why don't you give it a day or 2 to see if any of the participants post a relevant objection....If a participant draws a player that ends up not playing, then the participant's "horse" is whoever took the non-player's spot.

I'm going to get a PokerStars account just to pwn at HU.

I spent all weekend watching Irie get sucked out on and think I've got it down pretty well (pretend you have AA every hand).

Well, I'm playing any weekend that's not Labor Day. As usual, I ranked my preference for the dates 1 through 3 and, like every other time I've done that, my exactly prohibitive last choice was the most popular. Hell, I'd even volunteer my place as a venue. It's within walking distance of the Sonic and there's a few trashy-cute (but possibly underage) rollergirl carhops there. Well, anyway, that's my alternative to high-dollar escorts and the Wynn.

You're trying to appeal to raptor mentioning underage rollergirls and milkshakes right? If not, lemme IM him right now so he'll see this and immediately ask for a change of venue.

Although the idea of an "expanded" field has some appeal, I have great sympathy for the difficulty of co-ordinating the activities of "just" 15 post-pubescent cyber-freaks.

Having run several 24(+) player, multi-day, multi-venue gambling-oriented golfing outings (with bigtime calcuttas); I will guarandamteeu that Irieguy is in for a real "Treat" /images/graemlins/blush.gif /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Well, as any of you who have already met me know... this is a definite possibility. The only reason why I don't already have lap artists lined up is because I'm afraid they won't get tipped well by this group of youngling poser-punks. And I can't afford to lose my reputation with the beautiful babies of this town.

If I receive correspondence indicating to me that at least a few of the "Sweet 16" are vegas-worthy ballers... I will absolutely have scrippas present at the party in full pole-ready regalia. I also have a DJ on reserve, in case it looks like his services would add to the atmosphere.

In case anybody else missed what this is all about, here's the parent thread: STTF- Heads Up Championship of the Universe (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2624593&page=&view=&s b=5&o=)

I will not expand the tournament this year, for numerous reasons. BUT, I plan to make this an annual, or even Bi-annual (not to be confused with biennial) event. So, there will be another one, and the next one will have 32 players. I plan on having more players enter the STTF-HU tourney than the main event of the WSOP by 2009.

Although the main attraction will be Raptor's 21st Birthday Bash and the min-celebration of Zen's 100th post on 2+2.

Hate to pee on your Parade, but in order for the "STTF-HUC" event to grow, one would have to assume that the general population of the STTF would have to be expanding....By then Citanul will have barred/blocked everybody but the Dreaded Skip and his longevity is highly suspect /images/graemlins/frown.gif /images/graemlins/frown.gif
