soaring eagle poker room will close tues after being a fixture in mid michigan for almost 20 years. 103 jobs lost. many feel it was on the right track going non smoking and a very pro management team the dealers were great and the players were mostly fun to play with it will be missed.

That's really sad to hear. This is where I learned to play poker, when I was in college. Great people, sad news. Good luck to everyone out there.

It's a great room. Great staff, from dealers to management. I learned to play poker there. I went from losing $100 a session playing 2-6 stud to now losing $500 - $1,000 at a shot playing 15-30. Who's gonna take my money now?

I just heard about this, it's a real downer. First and only casino I've played poker at so far. Next nearest place is a 2.5 hour drive, instead of 30 mins :-(((

Anyone know why they closed it?

Ever since they initiated the no smoking policy the smokers have gone away. Since they initiated the bad beat the added rake has hurt the games. Since greektown opened all the fish stayed in Detroit.

The games have been bad for a while, rarely could we get a red chip game going, and when we did it was 10 of the same 15 or 20 guys every time.

Business has gone down and down for the last year. 2 years ago on a Friday night they'd have a 20-40 and two 10-20's at least. Now the single 10-20 runs short handed until about 10:00 and then it breaks and you're stuck playing 6-12.

Great room though, I will miss everyone there.

On a side note: Does anyone remember a guy named Martin Angeles who used to play there. He played mainly hold'em (6-12, 10-20, 15-30), went to CMU, was dating a poker dealer...
