Home tourney, three handed, pays 20$, 60$, $120. Blinds 15/30. Villain is loose/passive preflop and a complete LAG, even maniac, postflop.

Button (260)
Villain (550)
Hero (490)

Dealt to Hero AsTh

Button folds, Villain completes, Hero raises to 90, Villain calls.

Flop Kd Ts 4s

Villain bets 125, Hero Reraises all-in 400.

Looks clearcut postflop against almost all opponents. You could consider raising more preflop or even just pushing (My preferred play), as the 60 chips in the pot mean a lot to your 490 stack.

This is why being LAG pays off (the times he has a King here). But I raise more preflop here.

This looks good...my only concern is why would your opponent bet half his stack on the flop unless he wanted a call...but I guess your opponent isn't thinking on this level if he is as you described.

With a 15 BB stack I didn't think I was yet in push/fold mode.

You aren't, but agasint a LAG where you might get lost postflop it might be a good alternative and is certainly +EV given your hand.

It was only a little more than a quarter of his stack, but the answer to your question is that he is not very good.

He called and showed a flush draw, 8s3s. Spadeless turn and river. MHIG.

Whoops...I misread question...thought you were against button.

Hmmm,I was thinking I wanted to play as I figured to have a good chance of crippling him if I hit and I can get away from it if I miss.

Sounds like you think ATo might not be strong enough for this strategy.

Its fine when you flop an A, but if you are going to lose all your chips with 2nd pair it might be a problem.

Making a normal raise isn't a bad play, and will often be more +EV than pushing. I'm just saying that pushing is definately +EV.
